Emerald Forest Bungalows: aka Jake's Place |

Emerald Forest Bungalows is an enchanted location tucked away in Ellenville, New York. Here, you will find a constant source of information regarding our rustic cottages. Grandma and Grandpa could tell you a story or two about these babies. Should you desire a more modern brand of cabin life check out our brand new Chalet style cottages. These units were designed to blend perfectly with our forested landscape. Finally the activities of the Elf King and the daily gossip at efbny are not to be missed! Ellenville is just a 2 hour drive north of Manhattan, and just over the hill from Sam's Point Preserve.
We like to think of Emerald Forest Bungalows as a sort of Walden Pond meets Dirty Dancing. Emerald Forest Bungalows is a green community and tries to accommodate like clients. At 1100 feet, the air is always fresh. Here in the foothills of the Catskills, pine trees dominate the landscape.

Hi, I'm Mike Jacobson, aka Jake, the owner and proprietor of Emerald Forest Bungalows. My goal is to give you an experience that is good and wholesome. In other words, a whole lot at a fair price. The summer season was awesome! The heat, the pool, the very cold swimming holes, the BBQs, the camp fires, the quests! I have to say that the people who have stayed at our cabins over the years are the best. Good wholesome people, some who have become good friends of ours. Thanks everyone for staying at Emerald Forest Bungalows. So to the rest of you I say come and stay a while. We have fully furnished one and two bedroom bungalows/cottages for rent, a salt water pool, a two acre pond that is stocked with large mouth bass and 75 acres to frolic in.

Tribute to Patrick Swayze & the Catskills Bungalows of Yesteryear |

Swayze became a star in 1987 with his performance as the misunderstood, leather-clad bad boy Johnny Castle in ''Dirty Dancing.'' The coming-of-age romance established him as a romantic leading man. He starred opposite Jennifer Grey as a sexy (and much older) working-class dance instructor at a Catskills resort who proved to have more heart, integrity and sex appeal than many of the wealthy guests with whom he was forbidden to fraternize. The film made great use of both his grace on his feet and his muscular physique. Swayze's 20-month battle with advanced pancreatic cancer ended when he died Monday, September 14. He was 57. The Catskills were once America's largest resort area.
